I'd like to propose these schemas for promotion to the Engineering commons: Engine, Battery, and Mains Power. I've reviewed these, and think the schemata are good. If anybody else has any thoughts, please chime in! (The engine types will ultimately necessitate some refactoring in some other domains, like automotive, but I think that will be good in the long term.)

The manufactured component schema looks pretty good, too, I think. I'd like to get some more input on it, since it's considerably more abstract and potentially touches more types and domains than the other schemata here.

hey iain, though you have made me think for some time, i'm still not hot on the idea of distinguishing 'product' and 'material' in Product manufacturing. first, i like that you tried this. but,

everything can be used for everything ele, so most things would be typed as both product and material, even intermediary materials like wood pulp. that is exept for 'raw material', but even then...   'process chain' s (when mapped completely) are always circular, which would be good to map. im thinking geological processes like the nitrogen fixation cycle etc. this works much much much better in one type, as everything is truly both serves as ingrediant for something, and is composed of something.

i want this to be as general a type as possible, give me the thumbs up and ill try it.

            :)

              I agree - it's an ugly schema.

Instead I have created http://process.freebase.com/ for all process related stuff.  I propose to move all process stuff out of Engineering.

I've partially modelled some of the Nitrogen cycle.  Do you have any comments?

              ah ok! confused.

will process replace the cvt i did in materials?

pretty tough stuff. ~  dont like 'process actor tool', will take a better look at it tommorrow.

yes - that's the idea, to have a general process.  And as it can be applied to many different domains, I've moved it out of the engineering commons.

I'd really like to hear your input on the Process, especially if you have any ideas on improving it.

hey iain, love process. hope it takes off.

heres a description for it i wrote:

a process is a repeatable sequence of events whose outcome allows uniform understanding and repeated application.

id like 'process actor tool' to become a general 'action', for intentional behaviour (which is optionally part of a process)

, and 'process tool' tobecome a general 'tool', or 'used object' .

im thinking things like Spacecraft  linking to Spaceflight , dildo linking to masterbation.  processess are just half of it maybe.
